Simple Steps to SEO
These days if you are not Search Engine Optimising your website then you don’t stand a chance of being found online! Luckily it’s not that difficult to make sure your website is well optimised. Just follow these six easy steps and you are on your way!
-
Choose Keywords for your website
The first and most important step is to choose keywords for your website. The keywords and key phrases should be the same ones people will search for your site on. You need to choose about 6 – 8 keywords & key phrases and then check them in a search engine to make sure there are lots of returned search results.
-
Write a Description of your site
The description of your site should be a natural progression from choosing your keywords. In 25 words or less you need to define what your website is about or the main activity you want users to do on your website. e.g. Buy beautiful fresh flowers for delivery across Sydney, Australia and the world! You should also make sure your keywords are in the description.
-
'Keywordise’ your website
It may sound pretty much common sense, but make sure your website uses your main keywords, especially when you are using headings and links in the text. You can also make keyword rich pages just for the search engines by writing about 500 words of text with the keyword in the main heading and every single sentence.
-
Submit your site to the search engines
Check to make sure your site is not already listed in the search engines and if not look for the add or suggest site link on the search page and add your site.
-
Share links and content
One of the ways Google decides how popular your website is, is by counting the number of places that link to your website and how popular that website is. So get cracking and ask other websites to link to you. Of course you will have to link to them too! There are also a lot of websites that you can add your website as a link to directories etc.
-
Online Advertising & Google Adwords
If you use Google Adwords to promote your website you will also find that not just will you drive paid traffic to your website, but you will also rise up in the search engine listings as well! So get over to Google and setup a Google Adwords Account!
